The 2026 UKGC changes, how are they hitting you so far?

Few of the UKGC rule tweaks have actually bedded in this year now, so worth comparing notes rather than guessing.

The ones I'm seeing in practice:

Lighter touch on some affordability nudges at low stakes but firmer checks once you hit bigger deposits in a short window. Tripped one myself after topping up three times in an evening.

GAMSTOP prompts and links to GamCare are far more prominent now, sometimes mid-session. Some find it naggy, I think it's fine.

Stake caps on certain online slots that mirror the land-based logic.

My question: has anyone actually been asked for fresh affordability docs this year who hadn't before? And was it reasonable or a faff. Trying to work out if it's a real shift or just the same checks dressed up. Keen to keep this about the UKGC side, not the offshore stuff, there's a separate board for that.

Yes, got asked. Deposited a fair bit over a weekend and they paused the account until I sent a bank statement. Annoying in the moment but it was sorted in a day once I uploaded it, and honestly the amount was more than I'd planned to spend, so the check did its job.

The mid-session GamCare reminders I read every word of the terms anyway so they don't bother me. What I'd say is the bigger sites handle the document request cleanly, smaller ones leave you guessing whether it's even gone through.

Naggy is the word. Three pop ups in one session the other night. I get why but it breaks the flow something rotten.

No affordability ask for me yet, but I keep deposits small and spread out, so probably not surprising. The slot stake cap I have noticed, can't whack the same amount per spin on a couple of games I used to. Boh, takes a bit of getting used to but it's not the end of the world.

From the value side it's changed how bonuses look too. A few operators have trimmed offers because the affordability friction means fewer people clear big wagering, so they'd rather give a smaller, cleaner deal.

On the docs question, mate of mine got asked after a single large deposit, not a pattern, just the one. Reasonable enough, he sent payslip and statement, back up same day. The faff is always the smaller brands with a clunky upload form.

Keeping it UKGC as you say, the recourse you get here if something goes wrong is the whole point.
