How i work out the real wagering before accepting

Post by pendlebury_77 »

Few people have asked me how I sanity check a bonus before clicking accept, so here's roughly what I do. Nothing clever, just stops me getting caught.

First thing, find the wagering basis. Is it bonus only, or deposit plus bonus. If it's the latter I mentally double the headline number and decide if I'd still take it at that.

Then the actual sum. Take the bonus amount, times the multiplier, that's your turnover. £50 bonus at 35x is £1,750 to put through. If it's deposit+bonus on a £50/£50, that's £3,500.

After that I check three things that quietly kill offers: game weighting (slots usually 100%, tables often 10% or excluded), max bet while the bonus is live, and the expiry window.

Last, the max cashout cap. No point clearing it if winnings are capped at peanuts.

If all of that stacks up, I take it. If any one of them is hidden or daft, I walk. Anyone do it differently?

Pretty much the same method here, only difference is I write the turnover figure down before I start playing. Sounds anal but it stops the slow creep where you've spun £900 through and convince yourself you're nearly there when you're not even halfway.

The max bet check is the one I'd push hardest for newer players. It's the single most common way people void a bonus without realising, and the support team won't reinstate it.

Good list. I'd add expiry deserves more weight than people give it. A 7 day window on a £3,500 turnover is a totally different deal to the same offer with 30 days.

If you can only realistically put £200 a day through without it stopping being fun, a short expiry means you literally cannot clear it whatever you do. The site keeps the bonus and you've deposited for nothing.

This is really helpful actually, I'm fairly new and have just been clicking accept and hoping. Quick question, where do you usually find the game weighting? Is it on the offer page or somewhere else?

Also is 35x bonus only generally considered alright? Trying to get a feel for normal.

Solid thread, pinning the gist of it. Lou, weighting is usually on the full bonus terms page rather than the banner, sometimes in a separate 'contribution' table further down. If you can't find it, that's a flag in itself.

And yes, 35x bonus-only is a fair benchmark for UKGC sites at the moment. As for the offshore non gamstop sites people sometimes ask about, just so it's clear: they're Curacao type setups, often higher limits and looser bonus terms but no UKGC protection and no recourse if a withdrawal goes wrong. Worth understanding the difference, but if you've self-excluded or use GAMSTOP for a reason, the answer is GamCare, not chasing a bonus elsewhere.
